![]() THE SITE The site known as the Sandhills Estate is centrally located within the town of Byron Bay. It is generally bounded by Middleton and Massinger Streets, unnamed Crown Public Roads and parts of Gilmore Crescent, Tennyson and Lawson Streets. The site is traversed by an unformed part of Cowper Street. The site comprises Lot 441 DP 800268, Lots 383 and 384 DP 728202 and Lot 11 DP 249282, as shown in Map 1. Part of Lot 441 DP 800268 is the subject of a Licence to Byron Shire Council, and a further part is the subject of a proposed site for the Library. The details of the Licence and Library sites are shown on Map 2. The land, other than the Licence area shown in Map 2, is generally unreserved Crown land not held under any form of tenure. Three planning zones under Byron Local Environment Plan 1988 presently affect the site. The land is zoned 7(f2) - Urban Coastal Lands (f2) in the north, 1(d) - Investigation in the central area and 7(b) - Coastal Habitat in the south. The site adjoins lands zoned 2(a) Residential, 3(a) Business, 7(f2) Urban Coastal Lands (f2), and 6(a) Public Open Space. |
